Our Story

Bark River Farms is a collaboration of siblings led by Joshua Dibb that grew up and still live in the Lake Country area, mainly in the Bark River watershed, of Waukesha County, Wisconsin.  We are all now grown and have children of our own and want to teach the responsibilities we were taught as kids from our parents, John and Patti Dibb.  And that is, by raising rabbits and chickens as a child, you learn to put others in front of yourself.  Animals needs to be fed, watered and cared for before we, as farmers, get to sit down and relax.  This trait, thinking of others, has directed me into the career of Firefighting and Emergency Medicine.

As a Firefighter who loves to cook, and eat, I was fed up preparing meals with “bargain” chicken.  People say everything “tastes like chicken” because Chicken you buy today has no flavor.   Knowing how to care for and process poultry for my immediate family, I started inquiring around the Firehouse table the interest my co-workers had, for a better, more flavorful product.

It was a hit!  I started raising Cornish Cross Broilers for my Firehouse in Milwaukee County and their Families.  Opening up this service to my Cousins and relatives, they loved it too and had a neighbor or friend who was also interested in knowing where their food came from and what is in it.  Thus starting Bark River Poultry Farms, LLC.

Our Laying hens and Meat Broilers are pasture raised in the Town of Merton, raised by roaming fields of grass and moved to a fresh, salad buffet daily.  They are supplemented with grain that is Certified Organic, non-GMO from a local feed mill.  Then processed, packaged, and delivered fresh to you for your family to enjoy.  Exactly the way it was done 100 years ago.

You will taste the quality and the difference!
